      <image:caption>Beginning with an iconic hotel Singapore, Raffles was rapidly expanding globally as a luxury hotel group. To support its growing portfolio and to increase understanding and awareness, a new brand was needed. The project covered the brand positioning, strategy, identity design, brand expression, photography style, brand film, advertising concept and the new brand guidelines. We created a brand style that is sophisticated and classic with timeless elegance. The challenge was to create a visual system that celebrated the individuality of each hotel – creating a a precious, boutique quality as opposed to a cookie-cutter application. As a result, each property was given a dedicated texture that allows them to express their difference while retaining the sense of unity as a group. Following the new global brand development, Raffles heritage brands, Long Bar and The Writers Bar were also transformed to support the new era of the Raffles Hotels &amp; Resorts. The name reflected the rich history and legends of the Mediterranean. The artistic and warm character of the local culture was represented through an expressive, flowing logo and a series of hand drawn paintings. Situated in a prime location in Milan’s city centre, the store reinforces the brand’s premium positioning through a light, airy space and a rich combination of materials. Distinct areas of the store allow customers to explore coffee in unique ways. An Italian coffee bar, a seated cafe area, a roastery and shop provide opportunities to try and buy. Two further counters create completely new experiences: a counter for ’Coffee Design' serves experimental coffee recipes and a 'Slow Coffee’ counter focuses on specially brewed coffees. The in-store collateral design reflects the rich material palette of the interior. The brand concept is originated from a philosophical understanding of space ‘Ma’ in traditional Japanese culture that praises the lingering in time and the margins in space. Japanese tradition perceives architecture as ‘happening’, instead of solid objects. At Amoma, boarders are changeable, indoor and outdoor, being secluded and being in the centre of the city. Minimal and serene space invites residents’ individual interpretation and allow them to create one’s own time and space. Inspired by this Japanese philosophy the visual language is clean, modern and distinctive. The mark is created to represent the simplicity and flexibility. Its extended use as a graphic device playfully reconfigures the boarders; a direct reference to the philosophy of Ma. The materiality uses transparency to alter the perception of spaces. From the concept to the brand expression, Amoma’s coherent approach serves to clearly differentiate the brand from its competitors.</image:caption>

Reflecting this concept, the store embraces fluidity and seasonality, offering an ever-evolving selection of items—from fashion and interior goods to books. Celebrating art, design and photography, Nomado is shaped by the discerning eye of its curator, with no fixed merchandising formula. To express this playful, adaptable spirit, the branding centres around a whimsical illustration.
